Independent perspective for better-informed decisions.

Hospitality & Destination Strategic Review

Walton's core offering is a tailored strategic review for organisations facing an important question, challenge or opportunity. It helps decision-makers understand their situation more clearly and consider what deserves attention.

Every assignment begins with the client's circumstances and objectives. The scope and depth of the review are shaped around the questions that need to be explored — whether these concern one specific issue or a set of interconnected challenges.

The outcome is an independent assessment that brings relevant information and perspectives together, identifies important considerations and helps the client make better-informed decisions.

Who Walton works with

Working with decision-makers across hospitality and destinations.

01

Hospitality Businesses & Hotel Operators

Independent hotels, hotel groups and operators considering their guest proposition, business model, commercial performance or wider strategic direction.

02

Owners, Investors & Developers

Owners, investors and developers exploring hospitality assets, destination opportunities, repositioning, redevelopment or long-term value.

03

Destinations, Resorts & Tourism Organisations

Tourism boards, Destination Management Organisations (DMOs), destination partnerships, resort interests, and government and public-sector organisations seeking a clearer understanding of their visitor economy and hospitality ecosystem.

04

Hospitality Technology & Ecosystem Organisations

Selected technology and ecosystem organisations seeking an independent understanding of hospitality needs, commercial realities and the environments in which their solutions operate.

What the review considers

Five connected perspectives.

These are interconnected lenses, not separate services or a fixed checklist. Their relevance and depth depend on the client's situation.

01

People & the guest

Guest needs, expectations and experience; leadership, employees, teams and organisational relationships.

02

Business & commercial performance

Business models, market positioning, commercial performance and financial sustainability.

03

Technology & systems

Technology, AI, data, systems and connectivity — and their contribution to the business and guest experience.

04

Destination & sustainability

The relationship between the business, destination, communities, environment and long-term value.

05

Market & wider environment

Market conditions, competition, stakeholders and the wider visitor economy.

How the engagement works

A clear process, shaped around the assignment.

01

Explore

A complimentary initial conversation to understand the client's situation and establish whether Walton may be able to help.

02

Agree the scope

Walton prepares a tailored proposal setting out objectives, scope, deliverables, responsibilities, fees and indicative timescale.

03

Assess

Relevant discussions, information and research are considered. Where appropriate, specialist expertise may be brought in with the client's agreement.

04

Present the findings

The work normally concludes with a written Strategic Assessment Report and a presentation and discussion of the findings.

The report provides an independent assessment, identifies opportunities and considerations, and draws conclusions to support the client's thinking. It does not prescribe a direction or take decisions away from the client.

Beyond the review

Independent support when it is useful.

Some clients may value further discussion after the review: an independent sounding board, help exploring emerging questions, or advice as they consider their chosen path. Where appropriate, Walton can also help identify and coordinate specialist expertise.

Walton's role, responsibilities and any additional work are agreed clearly with the client. The client retains ownership of decisions and implementation.

Our commitment

Walton advises. The client decides.

Walton's role is to protect the client's strategic interest through independence, perspective and clarity. Any external expertise or project support is discussed openly and agreed with the client.
